Vyve Broadband Seeks Guymon Community Nominations for Teacher of the Month

Program Kicks Off for 2017-18 School Year to Recognize Outstanding Contributions from Area Teachers

As students in Guymon settle into their new school year, many are discovering their new favorite teachers. Vyve Broadband wants to recognize the great teachers in the area, and wants the community to tell them how special their teachers are.

The Vyve Broadband Teacher of the Month Program began last spring by inviting the residents of Guymon to nominate the incredible teachers that inspire students inside and outside of the classroom. Hundreds of nominations and votes were cast, and three special teachers were recognized.

“We were thrilled to get to know about these special teachers and their stories, and we can’t wait to meet even more this year. We love hearing about the unique styles of teaching they are bringing into the classroom, about the extra mile they go to provide support at home, even how much the extra hugs mean to a student having a rough day. They are making such a difference in their community, and we believe it’s so important to share their stories,” said Diane Quennoz, Senior Vice President for Marketing and Customer Experience at Vyve.

Every month for the next nine months, residents in Guymon are encouraged to visit www.vyvebroadband.com/teacher or www.facebook.com/vyvebroadband to nominate their teacher, and to vote for who should be the teacher of the month. Teachers from any public school in Guymon are eligible, Pre-K through High School.

The Vyve Teacher of the Month will be presented each month to teachers who have proven to be champions of the classroom and stewards of their community through their teaching, mentoring and leadership. They will receive a Golden Apple trophy and entered to win an iPad for their classroom.

“Every one of us can name at least one teacher, if not many, that made a difference in our life for great teaching. We hope this program continues to inspire people to say thank you to their favorite teachers, to share great stories, and maybe even inspire the next generation of great educators,” said Quennoz. “There is always room for more!”

“Many of them are unsung heroes that go unnoticed. Maybe they helped a student earn a better grade, maybe they gave a student encouragement to do better, or maybe they were just there when a student needed to talk. Whatever the reason, we appreciate what they do for our students.”

This first-ever program, garnered hundreds of votes and social engagements, and headlines made the news during the initial three-month campaign. The Vyve Teacher of the Month is presented to teachers who have proven to be champions of the classroom and stewards of their community through their teaching, mentoring and leadership. Nominations and voting for Vyve Teacher of the Month was open to anyone in the community via Facebook and the Vyve website.

“We are thrilled with the overwhelming participation, through both voting and social interaction in Shawnee for our launch of Vyve Teacher of the Month,” said Quennoz. “Our goal is to recognize Shawnee’s outstanding teachers, and we have engaged the entire community in doing just that with these three worthy winners. We are looking forward to 2017 – 2018 school year and honoring even more deserving teachers.”

Vyve Teacher of the Month returns to Shawnee next year at www.vyvebroadband.com/teacher or www.facebook.com/vyvebroadband.
